Royals Sweep Chargers

Box Score Playing its first Homecoming match since 2009, the Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team lost to Eastern Mennonite, 3-0 on Saturday morning at Horst Athletic Center.

The opening set proved to be the best of the match as there were four lead changes and the teams battled back-and-forth for much of the set. The Royals were able to string points together thanks to their 16 kills. EMU used the momentum from its first set victory to hammer the Chargers in the second set as they led 17-3 at one point before winning, 25-12. LBC made the third set competitive for stretches, but it was not enough as the Royals once again used their hitting to pull away at the end and win, 25-18.

Rachel Kennel led the way for EMU as she had 12 kills and no errors on 23 attempts. She also added 12 digs, while Lancaster County native D Probst added nine kills for the Royals.

For the Chargers, junior Katie Coomber led the way with nine kills, while Rachel Olson pitched in with four kills and a team-high 11 digs.

LBC (6-11) continues its busy schedule with another match on Monday night when they face The King's College (N.Y.) at 7 p.m. at Horst Athletic Center.
