Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team is currently a work in progress and with that comes growing pains as the Chargers look for consistency in all areas of the game.
The growing pains were clearly evident on Wednesday night in Altoona, Pa. as Lancaster Bible played one of its best all-around matches offensively, however service errors killed the Chargers' momentum time-and-time again as they lost to Penn St. Altoona, 3-0.
Lancaster Bible (0-4) had just two service aces compared to 21 service errors. The Chargers earned a season-high 32 kills, including 10 each by
Mitch Demko,
Alex Bahn and
Ken Diller, but could not overcome the errors in the service game.
The Chargers lost, 25-22, 25-22, 25-12 and clearly, a few less errors would have gone a long way. In addition to the errors, the Nittany Lions were basically flawless offensively as they hammered 23 kills to just seven errors on 54 attempts.
"I thought we played well at times tonight, but we still need to be more consistent throughout the entire match," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Jade Brubaker said.
Setter
Tyler Eckels had 26 assists and six digs as well for Lancaster Bible who will face two tough non-conference tests when they battle 4th-ranked New Paltz and 14th-ranked Kean on Saturday in Union, N.J. The Chargers will face New Paltz at 2 p.m. and Kean at 4 p.m.
