The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five games with a 4-1 victory over Wells in Aurora, N.Y. on Friday afternoon. The Chargers are now 12-4 overall and 9-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The five straight wins is the first time the Chargers have won five in-a-row since the 2012 season.
On Friday, the Chargers scored three goals in the first 11:25 of the game as
Naomi Otis,
Alyssa Wesner and
Bethany Conklin found the back of the net for Lancaster Bible. Conklin's goal was the first of her collegiate career and gave the Chargers a 3-0 lead they would carry until the 34th minute when Wells' Heather Hiltbrand scored off the crossbar to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The score remained that way until the 77:58 mark when Wesner scored her second of the day off a corner kick pass from Conklin. The goal was Wesner's eighth of the season which ties her with
Bethany Stein and
Briana Fodor for the third most on the team.
Junior goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Scheuing made five saves for her 12th win of the season. The Chargers held a 31-13 edge in shots and a whopping 17-1 advantage in corner kicks.
"We still have some things to clean up and we need to convert chances that will help us put teams away," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "Converting those chances and putting teams away is something we will need going forward, especially on shots we should be finishing."
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they wrap-up the NEAC portion of their schedule at Keuka. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
