The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday as the Chargers lost to Keuka, 2-1 in Keuka Park, N.Y. The loss drops the Chargers to 12-5 overall and Lancaster Bible finishes North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a record of 9-3.
The Chargers and Wolfpack both end NEAC play with 27 points and 9-3 records. Because of Keuka's win on Saturday however, the Wolfpack will be the third seed in next month's NEAC Playoffs, while the Chargers will be the fourth seed. Both teams will host a NEAC Quarterfinal match on Saturday, November 1 with the Chargers hosting SUNYIT and the Wolfpack hosting Caenovia.
On Saturday, Keuka opened the scoring at the 19:55 mark as Hannah Dalle scored on a breakaway as she tapped the ball around Lancaster Bible goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Scheuing. The Chargers knotted the score at 1-1 less than 12 minutes later as senior
Monica Lambertson scored her 11th goal of the season and 56th of her career as she took a through ball from
Emily Beltran and rocketed a shot into the left-hand corner.
The goal gave Lambertson 144 points for her career as she became the program's all-time leader in points for a career breaking Whitney Heise's mark of 142.
The momentum was short lived for the Chargers however as 2:09 later Lancaster Bible committed a foul in the box and Abbey David converted the penalty kick and gave Keuka a 2-1 lead. The Chargers would have chances to tie the score again, but could not convert and lost, 2-1.
Lancaster Bible outshot the Wolfpack, 13-5 and held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Chargers are now 3-1 all-time against Keuka.
Lancaster Bible will face Susquehanna on Wednesday in its regular season finale. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
Next Saturday's NEAC Quarterfinal contest against SUNYIT will begin at 2 p.m. on Charger Field. Lancaster Bible defeated SUNYIT, 5-0 on October 18.
