The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team ended its two-game losing streak in historical fashion on Sunday as the Chargers scored a program-record 14 goals in their 14-0 shutout at St. Elizabeth. Eleven different players scored a goal on Sunday as the Chargers improved to 8-4 overall and 5-2 in NEAC play.
Senior
Monica Lambertson opened the scoring just 4:30 into the game, giving her 54 goals for her career and moving her to within five of the program record of 59. Junior
Brooke Cullum scored 21 seconds later and
Emily Beltran netted her 10th goal of the season 1:27 after that and the rout was on.
Alyssa Wesner,
Briana Fodor and
Darian Marsh scored over the next eight minutes to make it 6-0 Lancaster Bible 14:12 into the contest.
Naomi Otis and
Shannon McNally scored later in the first half as the Chargers entered halftime with an 8-0 lead. Senior
Olivia Rentzel scored her first goal since Sept. 19, 2013 to open the second half scoring, while freshman
Lydia Pepper scored her first collegiate goal after Fodor had scored her second, to make it 11-0.Â
Fodor completed her second hat trick of the season at the 78:15 mark and senior
Danielle Good scored the first goal of her collegiate career at 81:33 to make it 13-0. Coming into today's game, Good had appeared in 64 games and had never scored, but she collected a feed from Rentzel and scored with just under 10 minutes remaining to net her first goal.Â
Otis capped the scoring two minutes later off a pass from
Shannon McNally and the Chargers had crushed the previous program record of 11 goals in a single game. In addition to the goals, freshman
Bethany Conklin collected her first collegiate assist as she earned a helper on Fodor's first goal. Also collecting her first point was sophomore
Brianne Lieb who assisted on McNally's goal at the end of the first half.Â
Rentzel finished with a goal and two assists and set a new personal best with four points. Fodor's hat trick is the 22nd in program history as she now has seven goals this season.
Lancaster Bible returns to the field on Saturday when they host Penn College at 1 p.m.
Notes:-The Chargers' previous record of 11 goals in a game was set last season on Homecoming against St. Elizabeth. Lancaster Bible won that game, 11-0.Â
-Lancaster Bible is averaging 4.42 goals per game this season, well ahead of the program mark of 3.68 set by the 2004 squad.Â
-In addition to the goals record, Lambertson is now just six points behind Whitney Heise (2009-12) for the program record for points in a career. Heise had 142 and Lamberston sits at 136.Â
