NEAC Men's Soccer Semifinal Preview

The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team will make just its second North Eastern Athletic Conference playoff appearance this weekend as the Chargers will take on the Keuka Wolfpack at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Morrisville, N.Y. The second-seeded Chargers completed their best regular season since 2009 and won more NEAC games this season than they have in the past two seasons. Lancaster Bible will enter Saturday's semifinal with a record of 11-5-1 overall, while the Wolfpack are 11-4-1.

Lancaster Bible enters the playoffs on fire as the Chargers went 6-1-1 in their final eight games of the regular season and lost only once in October. Keuka comes into the playoffs playing well too, as the Wolfpack went 6-2 in their final eight games and finished October with a 5-2 record.

The Chargers completed their superb October with a 3-1 victory over the Wolfpack in Keuka Park, N.Y. Freshman Edward Bills scored the second-fastest goal in program history as he scored 1:18 into the game to give Lancaster Bible a 1-0 lead. Junior Josiah Groff made it 2-0 just nine minutes later before Keuka's Austin Gerber cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 23:57 mark. The score remained that way until freshman Ivan Correa gave the Chargers another two-goal lead with his 11th goal of the year at 67:48. A full box score of the game can be found below.

October 25, 2014: Lancaster Bible 3, Keuka 1 -- Box Score

Lancaster Bible and Keuka have both scored 47 goals this season, but the teams reached that mark in two very different ways. Keuka is led by Austin Gerber who leads NCAA Division III in goals this season with 26. The Wolfpack only have one more player with more than two goals, Ben Schreiber who has six, while the rest of the goal scorers have only one or two goals. The Chargers meanwhile have gotten goals from 17 different goal scorers this season, led by Correa who has 11. Six players have scored three or more goals, including Groff who has six and Bills who has five.

Should the Chargers win on Saturday, it will mark the 300th win in program history.

The winner of the Lancaster Bible - Keuka semifinal will face the winner of the Morrisville State - Penn St. Abington semifinal in the NEAC Final on Sunday at 1 p.m. Lancaster Bible lost to Morrisville State, 4-1 earlier this season and tied Penn St. Abington, 1-1.
