The Lancaster Bible men's basketball won its fourth straight game on Saturday as the Chargers avenged one of their ugliest losses from a season ago to defeat the Wildcats, 67-50 on Saturday in Bryn Athyn, Pa. The Chargers are now 4-1 overall this season and 2-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.
Last season, prior to Bryn Athyn becoming a NEAC member, the Wildcats turned a one-point halftime deficit into a 16-point victory as they overpowered the Chargers in the second half. On Saturday, the Chargers once again held a small halftime lead at 27-24, but instead of playing a poor second half, Lancaster Bible played one of its better halves and outscored the Wildcats, 40-26 over the final 20 minutes.Â
Senior
Naheer Mirza and junior
Dondre Perry each had 15 points to pace the Chargers, while senior
Albert Suniga added 10 points. Junior
Luke Roundy played one of his strongest games of the season as he had eight points and five rebounds, while junior
CJ Dunston had seven points and seven boards.
"We turned the ball over way too much in the first half, but we did a great job in the second half of taking advantage of our opportunities and scored a lot of buckets in transition," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Marshall Tague said. "Naheer, Dre and Luke all played well offensively and CJ and
Corey Leonard did a great job defensively on Bryn Athyn's best player."
Lancaster Bible returns to the court on Sunday as the Chargers will host a rare Sunday game against Cincinnati Christian at 1 p.m.Â
