Box Score Lancaster Bible shot over 50 percent from the field for the second straight day as the Chargers were 28-of-50 from the field en route to an 80-58 drubbing of Wells on Saturday at Horst Athletic Center. The win is the 10th victory at Horst Athletic Center this season which ties the program-record for home wins in a season. The last team to win 10 games at home was the 2004-05 Chargers who went 10-4.
On Saturday, the hot shooting hands of
Naheer Mirza and
Albert Suniga provided the spark the Chargers needed to improve to 15-7 overall and 13-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Mirza scored all of his 15 points from beyond the arc as he was 5-of-6 from 3-point land. Mirza also had 15 points on Friday night against Keuka as well. Suniga, meanwhile, had a game-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting and added six rebounds.
Sophomore
CJ Dunston was the other Lancaster Bible player in double figures as he scored 10 points and was a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor. Fellow sophomore
Luke Roundy played well again as he scored eight points and added four rebounds.
Dondre Perry also had eight points and six boards, while
Corey Leonard added six points and three boards. Freshman
Javon Cole came off the bench late for two coast-to-coast buckets for four points.
Wells (8-15, 7-9 NEAC), who lost a heartbreaker on Friday night at Penn St. Berks, was led by Al Paul's 11 points.
The Chargers have already clinched a playoff berth in next month's NEAC playoffs, and own a 2 1/2 game lead on second place Morrisville State. Lancaster Bible had three games remaining, while the Mustangs have four games to play. The Chargers final three games will be on the road and they will start their season-ending road trip on Tuesday at Penn Abington. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
