Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team opened the home portion of its schedule with a loss on Tuesday night to Penn St. Altoona, 3-2. Though they lost, the Chargers showed great improvement as they lost to the same Altoona team, 3-0 just three weeks ago. The Nittany Lions won, 24-26, 25-14, 25-22, 20-25, 15-12.
Senior
Alex Bahn led the Chargers with 17 kills and nine digs, while fellow senior
Mitch Demko added 13 kills, eight digs and four blocks. Lancaster Bible won the first set in thrilling fashion as they won, 26-24, behind two thunderous kills from Bahn.
"Alex was big for us in the first set," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Jade Brubaker said. "I really liked how we played in the first set."
The Nittany Lions (5-4) took the next two sets, before the Chargers got back into the match in the fourth set behind timely kills and blocks from
Ken Diller and great serving from
Nathan Diehl.
"Ken had some great blocks tonight that really helped our momentum in the fourth set," Brubaker said. "And Nate, what can you say? His serving was great and he has really improved his game."
Penn St. Altoona led from the get-go in the fifth set and rode their early 4-1 lead to a 15-12 match-clinching set win. Lancaster Bible junior
Paul Fulbright also added four kills and six digs for the Chargers, while
Tyler Eckels had 31 assists and four blocks.
"We've been playing better lately and tonight was just another example of that," Brubaker said. "I'm encouraged by our work ethic and as we continue to improve, we'll be able to capitalize better on our opportunities."
The Chargers (2-8) are off until next Wednesday when they host Cairn at 7 p.m.
