Chargers Earn Eighth Straight Win

Box Score On a day where most people in Lancaster County sat in their house and watched it snow eight inches, the Lancaster Bible women's basketball braved the elements on its drive to Clarks Summit, Pa. and then dispatched Baptist Bible, 79-52 for its eighth straight victory.

Sophomore Katy Stover had a game-high 20 points and added five steals as Lancaster Bible improved to 14-5 this season. Junior Shanice Smith added 19 points and 10 rebounds for her 12th straight double-double, while sophomore Aubrey Folger had 11 points and 11 boards for her fourth straight double-double.

The Chargers, who led for the final 37 minutes of the game, also got 13 points and four rebounds from Christy Lorah off the bench. Senior Emily Martz also had six points and three boards off the bench for the Chargers who improved to 4-5 this season in non-conference action.

"We didn't play very well the first 10 minutes or so, but we started playing better defensively and our shots started falling on the offensive end during the last half of the first half," Martz said.

The Chargers' win is the program's first in Clarks Summit since the 2001-02 season. Lancaster Bible has also won the past two meetings as the Chargers won, 60-42 last season in Lancaster.

Lancaster Bible's final six games will all be North Eastern Athletic Conference games as the Chargers will play four of their last six games on the road. While the weather forecast may have other ideas, the Chargers are slated to play at St. Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J. on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. and at Morrisville State in Morrisville, N.Y. on Friday.

The Chargers are two wins away from matching their program-record 10-game winning streak they amassed last season.
