Bahn Leads Chargers to Comeback Win

Box Score It was bleak.

Trailing two sets to one and down 19-10 in the fourth set, it appeared as though Lancaster Bible was headed towards its 18th loss of the year and senior Alex Bahn would have to settle with a four-set loss on Senior Night. The never-say-die Chargers fought back however and won 10 of the next 11 points and finally tied the set at 23-23. Altoona had match-point at 24-23, but Bahn kept the night going with a kill and the Chargers fought off two more match points and finally won the set on a kill from who else, but Bahn.

The fifth set was equally as entertaining as the Chargers took an early lead, but the Nittany Lions staged their own comeback and tied the set at 11-11 before the Chargers won four of the final five points to earn a 15-12 victory. The 3-2 final score tells only a fraction of the story as Bahn and fellow upperclassmen, Ken Diller, Tyler Eckels and Mitch Demko simply wouldn't let the Chargers lose on this night.

The Chargers, who won by game scores of, 21-25, 25-23, 20-25, 28-26, 15-12, are now 4-17 this season and have won two of their past three matches.

Bahn led the way on Tuesday with 24 kills, the second most in program history, and added 11 digs and four blocks. Diller added 10 kills and seven blocks, while Eckels had 42 assists go to with his nine digs. Demko had nine kills and 12 digs and TJ Forsythe chipped in with five kills and three blocks.

Bahn's 11 digs give him 509 for his career, while his 24 kills also pushed him past the 500-mark and he now has 505 in his 75 career matches at Lancaster Bible College.

A night that looked bleak turned to joy as the Chargers not only saved a Senior Night, but perhaps a season as well.

The Chargers return to the court on Saturday when they get back to North Eastern Athletic Conference play with matches against Cazenovia (1 p.m.) and SUNYIT (3 p.m.). Both matches will be played in Keuka Park, N.Y.
