Men's Volleyball Zach Freeman

Chargers Go 1-3 at York (N.Y.) Men's Volleyball Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team made its yearly trek to Jamaica, N.Y. this weekend to take part in the York College Men's Volleyball Tournament. The Chargers dropped their first three matches, but ended the tournament on a positive note as they defeated Polytechnic (N.Y.), 3-0. Below is a quick recap of each of the four matches.

York (N.Y.) 3, Lancaster Bible 1
25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20


Senior Alex Bahn led the Chargers with 15 kills, while fellow senior Mitch Demko had 11 kills and 10 digs. Junior Paul Fulbright added three kills, four digs and two blocks and Ken Diller chipped in with six kills and six digs.

Eastern Mennonite 3, Lancaster Bible 2
23-25, 25-11, 20-25, 25-8, 18-16


Just a month after losing to Eastern Mennonite, 3-0 in Harrisonburg, Va., the Chargers played one of their best matches of the season in a five-set loss to the Royals. Lancaster Bible led two sets to one, but couldn't hold on for the win as they lost, 18-16 in the fifth and final set. 

Bahn had a team-high 19 kills to go with 13 digs and four aces.

"The guys played really hard," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Jade Brubaker said. "I'm very proud of the way they played."

30-28, 25-20, 25-14


Bahn once again led the Chargers with 11 kills, while TJ Forsythe added two kills and two digs. Junior Tyler Eckels had 24 assists and two blocks while Diller added six kills, four digs and two blocks.

Lancaster Bible 3, Polytechnic (N.Y.) 0
25-16, 26-24, 25-21


Diller had one of his best matches of the season as he had 10 kills on just 14 attempts, while Bahn added 13 kills and five aces. For his strong four matches, Bahn was named to the all-tournament team. The win snaps a nine-match losing streak for the Chargers who will play four of their final six matches at home. Lancaster Bible is off until March 18 when they host Eastern Mennonite at 6 p.m.
