Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Chargers Shutout Phoenix

The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team rebounded from its first North Eastern Athletic Conference loss of the season on Monday to Penn St. Berks by crushing Wilson, 8-0 on Friday at Charger Field. Freshman Briana Fodor had a hat trick to lead the Chargers who improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in NEAC play.

Emily Beltran opened the scoring just 18 seconds into the contest as she collected a pass from Bethany Stein and scored into the right-hand side of the net. Just over six minutes later sophomore Alyssa Wesner picked up her first goal of the season as she scored from just outside of the box as she fell to the ground.

Stein added a goal of her own 10 minutes later as she deposited a goal into the net off a feed from Monica Lambertson. The goal was Stein's team-leading eighth of the season. Fodor scored the first of her three goals just over three minutes later and capped the first half scoring at the 33:38 mark as she headed in a perfect cross from Naomi Otis.

Lambertson scored her seventh goal of the year at the 60:05 mark and Fodor completed the hat trick at the 73:03 mark off a feed from fellow freshman Darian Marsh. Marsh then scored her first collegiate goal five minutes later as she scored off of a pass from senior Shannon McNally.

Kaitlyn Scheuing did not make a save, but recorded her fourth shutout of the season for the Chargers.

"We got an opportunity to work on maintaining our shape and holding possession, which is always good," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Ken Craul said. "It's nice to get everyone some extended minutes so things we work on in practice can be executed in game situations."

Lancaster Bible returns to the field on Saturday when the Chargers host Gallaudet at 1 p.m.

Notes:
-Lambertson's goal was the 52nd of her career as she moves to within seven goals of tying Whitney Heise's all-time program record of 59.

-Fodor's hat trick is the 20th in program history and she becomes just the 11th player in program history to score three or more goals in a game.
