Chargers Clip Griffins

The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team snapped a two-game winless streak as the Chargers blanked Gwynedd Mercy, 2-0 on Thursday afternoon in Gwynedd Valley, Pa. The victory improves the Chargers to 4-2-3 this season, while the Griffins are now 3-8.

How it Happened: After a scoreless first 20 minutes, the Chargers began to push the play and were rewarded with their first goal in over two games as senior Josiah Groff took a pass from sophomore Edward Bills and scored past Gwynedd Mercy goalkeeper Matt Chilcote to give Lancaster Bible a 1-0 lead at the 23:53 mark. The Chargers continued to control play as they managed five shots and four corner kicks in the first half, while the Griffins had just three shots and no corners.

The score remained 1-0 through halftime, but the Chargers gave themselves some breathing room early in the second half as senior Nathan Grimley rebounded his own shot off the post and scored his second goal of the year to double the Chargers' lead to 2-0, just seven minutes into the second half. Lancaster Bible outshot the Griffins, 8-5 in the second half, but all five of Gwynedd Mercy's shots were on goal and Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Josue Bosque had to make five second-half saves to keep the Chargers in front.
