The Lancaster Bible women's soccer had its three-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday as the Chargers lost to Penn St. Harrisburg, 2-0 at Charger Field. The loss drops the Chargers to 7-6 this season, while the Nittany Lions improved to 4-7-1.Â
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible controlled play for the first 10 minutes and garnered a few scoring chances, but it was the Nittany Lions who took advantage of their first scoring chance as Alyssa Crowley converted Kristen Stark's crossing pass into Penn St. Harrisburg's first goal. Stark's pass went right to Crowley's foot and Crowley was able to tip the ball to herself past Lancaster Bible
Kaitlyn Scheuing and put the ball into the open net.
Stark extended the Nittany Lions' lead 6:13 later as she gathered the ball down the left side of the field and in the process beat a Lancaster Bible defender and Scheuing to the ball and took a dribble and scored into an empty net to make it 2-0. From that point, the Chargers maintained the majority of the possession, but could not convert any of their scoring chances.
Lancaster Bible's best chance came in the second half as sophomore
Raegan Horst blasted a shot that hit the post and the rebound came right to
Marisa Jo Abts who headed the ball toward the open net, but a Penn St. Harrisburg defender was there to clear the ball before it could cross the goal line.
