Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Chargers Drop Third Straight

For the third straight game, the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team could not find the back of the net and for the third straight time, that meant defeat as the Chargers fell to Susquehanna, 1-0 at Charger Field on a picturesque fall day. The loss drops the Chargers to 7-8 this season, while the Crusaders improved to 8-6-2.

How it Happened: For the third time in three games, the Chargers allowed a goal in the first 11 minutes of the game as the Crusaders' Alyssa Bolger tipped in a free kick from Alex Edelman. The free kick, taken from about 30 yards out, went into a group of players inside the box, but Bolger was able to get a piece of the ball and direct it into the left-hand side of the net.

Susquehanna managed a few more shots on goal in the first half, but the Chargers took just one shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes and rarely challenged Crusaders' goalkeeper Jordyn Slocum. Lancaster Bible woke up a bit in the second half as the team outshot the Crusaders, 4-1. The Chargers' chances were few-and-far between, but team's best chances came in the final 15 minutes when the team had two corner kicks and quality shots from Raegan Horst and Rachel Kumher. Horst's shot went just wide and Slocum made a key save on Kumher's shot to keep it a 1-0 game.

By the Numbers: Bolger's goal was her third of the season...Lancaster Bible senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Scheuing made three saves...Slocum made three saves as well for her eighth win of the season...In addition to Horst and Kumher's shots, Brooke Cullum, Alexa Evans and Alyssa Wesner also had shot attempts for the Chargers.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is just 4-7 at home this season, but 3-1 on the road...With just one home game remaining in the regular season, the Chargers will finish with a home record under .500 for the first time since the 2009 season when Lancaster Bible went 2-5-1...Susquehanna leads the all-time series, 2-0...Tuesday was also the final non-conference game of the season for the Chargers and the team finished 1-6 against non-NEAC opponents this season...This is the first time the Chargers have been held scoreless in three straight games since 2009 when Lancaster Bible went scoreless over three games, but earned a tie against Philadelphia Biblical to go 0-2-1 despite not scoring for three games.

Up Next: The Chargers will host St. Elizabeth on Friday at 3:30 p.m...It is Senior Day and the Chargers will honor their seniors prior to the contest.
