Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Chargers Roll on Senior Day

For a team that had not scored in three straight games, the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team sure got back on track during Friday's Senior Day game against St. Elizabeth as the Chargers scored five times in the first 20 minutes of the game en route to a 10-0 victory in their home regular season finale. The win bumps the Chargers' record up to 8-8 overall and 7-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while St. Elizabeth dropped to 0-14 overall and 0-8 in conference play.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible got on the board just 2:49 into the game as Marisa Jo Abts got the last touch on a goal that hit off a St. Elizabeth defender on the way in. The goal was Abts' first of the season and the Chargers tacked on a second goal less than seven minutes later as junior Kirsten Webster scored her 10th goal of the season. Webster took a pass from Rachel Kumher and sprinted past the defense and blasted a shot past the goalkeeper.

Just 3:43 later, Abts scored again as she netted a goal off a nice cross from Abi Brady. Only 2:37 later, Webster (playing the, "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better Game," with Abts), scored her second goal of the game and 11th of the year as she once again got around the defense and goalkeeper and put the ball into an open net. Lancaster Bible completed its strong opening 20 minutes 2:26 later when freshman Alexa Evans found the ball off of a corner kick and scored her third goal of the season. Evans scored again 13 minutes later off a feed from sophomore Raegan Horst and the Chargers went into halftime with a 6-0 lead.

Junior Alyssa Wesner played one of her best games of the season on Friday as she scored a hat trick in the second half. Kumher added the 10th and final goal with 3:31 to go as her corner kick try hit off of a St. Elizabeth defender and went into the net.
