The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team saw its 2015 season come to a close on Friday night in Utica, N.Y. as the Chargers lost to Gallaudet, 3-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Quarterfinals. The Chargers finish the season with a record of 14-16 as the Bison defeated Lancaster Bible, 25-14, 25-13, 25-18. The end of the season also marks the end of the storied careers of seniors
Hannah Derr and
Grace Scheuerman who helped the Chargers to 64 victories over four seasons.Â
How it Happened: Unlike the team's five-set thriller from two weeks ago that the Bison won, 3-2, the Chargers were unable to get any traction in the match as Gallaudet pounced on Lancaster Bible immediately. Gallaudet pounded out 15 kills to just two errors on 28 attempts in the opening set, while Lancaster Bible had just six kills.Â
The Chargers' game improved during the second set, but Gallaudet gave very few points away as they connected for 10 kills and just one error during the second set. Lancaster Bible's best set was the third as the Chargers hammered home nine kills and kept the set close the entire way. The Bison ultimately prevailed, 25-18, and had double digit kills for the third straight set.Â
