Box Score The Lancaster Bible women's basketball team is headed to the NCCAA Div. II Semifinals as the Chargers knocked off tournament host Ozark Christian, 73-54 on Thursday night in Joplin, Mo. The victory improves the Chargers to 23-5 this season and Lancaster Bible will meet 3
rd-seeded Central Christian College of the Bible (Mo.) in the NCCAA Div. II Semifinals.
After trailing, 5-1 in the early going, Lancaster Bible used a 25-5 run midway through the first half to gain control of the contest. During the run, Ozark went seven minutes without a bucket as the Chargers used their defense and rebounding ability to take over the contest.
In the first half, Lancaster Bible scored 19 points off 14 Ozark Christian turnovers, while the host Ambassadors did not score a single point off of any of Lancaster Bible's 11 first half turnovers.
Lancaster Bible continued to control play early in the second half and eventually led by as many as 26 points midway through the second half.
Junior
Katy Stover led all scorers with 24 points, while fellow junior
Aubrey Folger added 20 points and 15 rebounds. Folger needs just 10 points to surpass Lauren Heliger's program record for points in career. Ten points will give Folger 1,517 points in her storied collegiate career that still has another year left. Folger topped the 1,500-point mark on Thursday and became just the fifth basketball player (men's or women's) in Lancaster Bible history to surpass the mark.
Kirsten Webster also added 10 points, while
Christy Lorah had 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
Lancaster Bible's semifinal opponent, Central Christian College of the Bible, defeated 6
th-seeded North Central, 73-62 in its quarterfinal. The Saints are 19-7 this season and are making their first-ever NCCAA National Tournament appearance. Central Christian won the Central Region to earn its first-ever berth to the NCCAA National Tournament and the Saints have won nine of their past 10 games.
