Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | Zach Freeman

Chargers Drop Opener to Owls

The Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team opened its 2015 season with a loss at Bryn Mawr on Wednesday as the Chargers fell, 16-5 in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Sophomore Alyssa Wesner, Lancaster Bible's leading scorer from a year ago, picked up where she left off as she had two goals and a team-high 16 shots. Wesner also caused three turnovers and picked up four ground balls. Freshman Myranda Kemrer had her first two collegiate goals and a team-high five ground balls. Junior Cheyenne Benson scored the other goal for Lancaster Bible as the Chargers dropped their season opener for the 10th straight season. Lancaster Bible is now 0-10 all-time in its season opening game.

Bethany Dickerson, playing her first collegiate game in goal, made 10 saves for the Chargers, while sophomore Joanna Shughart had five shots.

Despite the score, Lancaster Bible was competitive the entire game as they had 31 shots, 20 ground balls and only lost the draw control battle, 12-11.

Lancaster Bible is scheduled to return to action on Saturday when it hosts Hilbert at 1 p.m., but with the impending snow, there is a good chance that game will not be played. Please stay tuned to the website or Lancaster Bible's Twitter account, @LBCathletics, for updates.
