The Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team lost its final road game of the season on Friday as the Chargers lost to Penn St. Abington, 19-6 in Abington, Pa. The loss drops the Chargers to 2-11 overall and 1-7 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Lancaster Bible finishes the season 1-8 away from Charger Field with its lone win coming on March 30 at Waynesburg.
On Friday, Lancaster Bible hung with Penn St. Abington in the first half as the Chargers trailed just 9-5 at halftime, but the Nittany Lions scored the first seven goals of the second half to take a commanding lead and won, 19-6.Â
After giving up the first three goals of the game, Lancaster Bible got on the board with 21:43 to play in the first half on a goal by sophomore
Naomi Otis. Three more goals by Penn St. Abington made it 6-1, but back-to-back goals from sophomore
Alyssa Wesner and
Myranda Kemrer cut the deficit to 6-3 with 13:30 remaining in the first half. Wesner and Otis each added their second goal of the contest before the first half ended with the Chargers trailing by four.
Wesner scored the lone Lancaster Bible goal in the second half, as her 54th tally of the season came with 8:46 to play in the game. Junior goalkeeper
Bethany Dickerson made 10 saves in the loss, while sophomore
Joanna Shughart had four draw controls.Â
Lancaster Bible wraps up its season on Saturday when the Chargers host Bryn Athyn at 1 p.m.Â
