The Lancaster Bible softball team earned an important doubleheader split with North Eastern Athletic Conference South Division leading Wilson on Friday as the Chargers won game one, 5-4, on a walk-off home run by
Courtney Koser, while Wilson took game two, 7-1. The split keeps Lancaster Bible in playoff contention as they look to be one of the top three teams in the NEAC South Division and thus earn the first playoff berth in program history.
At the end of play on Friday, Lancaster Bible sat three games back of both Penn St. Berks and Penn St. Abington for the third and final playoff spot. Lancaster Bible is 7-15 overall and 5-7 in NEAC play. Both Abington and Berks are 8-4 in conference play, while Wilson leads the division with a 10-2 mark.
The Chargers will look to earn two victories on Saturday as they host Gallaudet at 1 p.m. on Senior Day in Lancaster, Pa. Lancaster Bible defeated Gallaudet last Saturday, 12-2 and 9-0 in Washington, D.C.Â

Lancaster Bible 5, Wilson 4 -- Game 1Lancaster Bible took an early lead thanks to two runs in the bottom of the first as
Courtney Koser and
Emily Coffman each had RBI singles. Wilson cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of third, but Lancaster Bible answered right back as Coffman singled home two more runs to increase the Chargers' lead to 4-1.Â
Wilson capitalized on an error in the fifth inning as the Phoenix scored twice and made it a 4-3 game and Wilson completed the comeback in its final at-bat as the Phoenix manufactured a run with two outs. After two quick outs, Taylor Crouse singled and Kayla Sullenberger earned a walk, which brought Morgan Newell to the plate. Newell singled and drove in Crouse to tie the game at 4-4.Â
Lancaster Bible eventually got out of the inning and Koser led off the bottom half of the seventh inning. She wasted little time in bringing the crowd to its feet as she smashed a home run over the left field wall to give Lancaster Bible a dramatic, 5-4 victory. Koser finished game one 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while
Ali Morton and Coffman each had two hits as well. Coffman drove in three runs as well and
Julia D'Arrigo went 1-for-4 with a run scored.Â
Kelsey Collins earned her fifth win of the season as she allowed seven hits, but only one earned run, while striking out eight.
Wilson 7, Lancaster Bible 1 -- Game 2Wilson broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth as the Phoenix scored three times on a single that turned into much more thanks to a Lancaster Bible error. With the bases loaded Crouse singled that scored two runs, but an error helped clear the bases and Crouse ended up on third.Â
Wilson scored again in the sixth and twice in the seventh as the Phoenix improved to 10-2 in NEAC play.
D'Arrigo finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, while
Kelsey Collins,
Kellie Wallace,
Kellie Wright and Morton also had hits for Lancaster Bible.
