Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Mitchell Strauser

Chargers Win Thriller in Double Overtime

The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team earned a win in a hard fought battle as they won 1-0 in the second overtime. The victory improves the Chargers to 3-3 this season as Keuka falls to 1-4-1.

The Rundown: The whole game was a back and forth battle as both teams were fighting to get on the scoreboard. The Chargers had the advantage in time of possession today but just could not seem to find enough space to get the ball in the back of the net. Both teams played their hearts out in the full 90 minutes but no goals were scored so it was on to the first overtime. Each team continued to battle through those 10 minutes but the ball just would not go in for either team. After a quick break it was time to start the second overtime.

At this stage in the game it was the Chargers that took over and made sure that they were going to come out with a win. Just as it passed a minute into the second overtime junior Brianne Lieb gave a beautiful feed to junior Kirsten Webster who was able to juke out a defender and make a fantastic shot in to the top right corner of the net at the 101:03 minute. The Chargers bench erupted because they knew that no matter how much of a battle it was they came out with a win and went 2-0 for the weekend. The goal gave Webster her fourth goal of the season, while senior Kaitlyn Scheuing had five saves.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 17 shots to Keuka's 10 and both teams had 8 corner kicks throughout the whole game. Webster's goal today gives her a goal in each of the past four games for Lancaster Bible...Lieb's assist was her first of the season.

The Coach Says: Lancaster Bible Head Coach Leah Sipe said, "To play back to back games and go to overtime in both and get a result in both games, there is nothing more I could ask for out of the girls and all the credit goes to the girls and their desire to keep fighting."..."The finish by Kirsten Webster was simply incredible!"

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 4-1 all time against Keuka. Lancaster Bible has now won their past three games and have improved their home record to 2-2.
