The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team won its second straight game on Friday as the Chargers defeated Wells, 3-2 in overtime at Charger Field. Senior
Brooke Cullum scored with 57 seconds to play in the first overtime to propel the Chargers over the Express. Lancaster Bible is now 2-3 this season and 1-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference, while Wells is 1-6, 0-1 NEAC.
How it Happened: Yanna Ososkalo opened the scoring in the 19th minute as she deflected a ball into the net that Lancaster Bible couldn't clear out of the box...Lancaster Bible got the goal right back four minutes later as
Kirsten Webster scored her third goal of the year. The game remained tied through halftime, but junior
Alyssa Wesner scored just over three minutes into the second half to give the Chargers a 2-1 lead.
Abi Brady and
Raegan Horst assisted on Wesner's goal and the assist was the first point of Brady's collegiate career.
Wells' Carley Ryan tied the game with 14:33 to play as she scored off a corner kick from Heather Hiltbrand. After regulation ended, the teams appeared to be headed to a second overtime, but off a corner kick and a somewhat jumbled play, Cullum was able to find the ball and get a shot off that crossed the line and moved the Chargers to 2-3 this season.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible outshot Wells, 15-11 and held an 8-5 advantage on corner kicks...Webster leads the Chargers with three goals this season...Lancaster Bible is now 5-0 all-time against Wells.
Information Hodge Podge: Webster has scored in three straight games...Wesner and Cullum have scored in two straight games...After scoring one goal in their opening three losses, the Chargers have seven goals in their past two games, both of which are wins...Wesner's 28 goals are the seventh-most in program history.
