THe Lancaster Bible men's soccer team rebounded from its first loss of the season by defeating Summit, 5-0 on Tuesday in Clarks Summit. The victory improves the Chargers to 3-1-2 this season, while the Defenders dropped to 2-6. 

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible scored four goals in the first half and cruised to its fifth straight win over Summit (previously Baptist Bible). Senior Josiah Groff opened the scoring 5:03 into the contest as he scored his fifth goal in three games. Spencer Lockard scored 14 minutes later to extend the Chargers lead as he headed in a pass from Arturo Ortega Marcos. 

The score remained 2-0 until the 33:10 mark when freshman Brendon Dooley scored his first collegiate goal on a great play that saw him dribble through the defense and create his own scoring chance. The rout was on 1:46 later when senior Jared Steiner scored his second goal of the year to make it 4-0 Lancaster Bible. Freshman Caleb Nelson added the first goal of his collegiate career in the second half to cap the scoring as Lancaster Bible scored five goals in a game for the first time since October 24, 2014 when the Chargers defeated Wells, 5-1. 

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible outshot the Defenders, 16-12 and held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks...Alex Vocature picked up his second assist of the season, while Groff added an assist on Steiner's goal...Groff has six goals in six games this season and his 15 points lead the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

The Coach Says: "This was a good overall performance from start to finish," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Tom Ardt said. "We came out with intensity and found some space in the midfield and were able to create some good chances. I thought we played some good crosses into the box and we defended well too. I'm very pleased with the effort today."

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 15-38 all-time against Summit (Baptist Bible)...Summit Head Coach Kyle Keltner coached against his alma mater for the first time...Lancaster Bible is 2-0 on the road this season after finishing 6-3-1 away from Charger Field last year...The goal was Groff's 20th of his career...He becomes the 21st player in program history with 20 or more goals...He is currently tied for 17th all-time on Lancaster Bible's all-time scoring list...The other players with 20 goals for their career are Doug Harris (1979-81), Troy DeBruin (1991, '93), Brian Webb (2000-01) and Lawrence Lartey (2009-11).
