Lancaster Bible won its first match of the 2015 season and produced a little history in the process as the Chargers won their first-ever match at the Crosstown Crossover. The event, which features Elizabethtown, Franklin & Marshall and Penn St. Berks, has been played since 2012, yet the Chargers had never won a match through last night's 3-0 defeat to Elizabethtown.Â
That is until Saturday when the Chargers defeated Day 2 host, Penn St. Berks in straight sets, 3-0. Lancaster Bible then lost to Franklin & Marshall, 3-0 to finish the weekend with a 1-2 record and move to 1-3 overall.

27-25, 25-20, 25-21Both teams finished the match with 33 kills, but it was the Chargers who pulled away at the end of each set to earn the 3-0 victory.
Alyssa Bowen led the Chargers with 10 kills, while
Emily Olson had nine kills and no errors on 18 attempts. Senior
Hannah Derr had 26 assists to go along with nine digs, while fellow senior
Grace Scheuerman led the team with 16 digs.
Freshman
Hannah Gipe continued her strong early-season play with five kills and 12 digs and
Myranda Kemrer had three kills and 14 digs.
The victory over Berks snaps an eight-match losing streak to the Nittany Lions. Lancaster Bible's last win over Berks came in 2009.
Franklin & Marshall 3, Lancaster Bible 0Â
25-13, 27-25, 25-10Franklin & Marshall improved to 9-0 all-time against the Chargers as they swept Lancaster Bible in three sets, 3-0. Lancaster Bible played well in the second set, but the Diplomats strung together the final two points of the set to earn a 27-25 win.
Kemrer led the way with five kills, while Gipe added four. Junior
Jensen Attoe led the Chargers with 10 assists and added 10 digs, while Scheuerman had a team-high 20 digs.Â
"Despite the loss, we were competitive and the effort was great," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Lauren Bewley said. "In the first match, we played well and I thought we carried over last night's strong effort and competed hard the entire match."
The Chargers return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to take on Wilkes and Summit in a tri-match.
