The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team took to the road for the first time this season on Wednesday night and was defeated by Eastern Mennonite, 3-0 in Harrisonburg, Va. The loss drops the Chargers to 0-2 this season, while the Royals improved to 2-2 in 2016.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible dropped the first set, 25-11, but battled back in the second set and trailed just 13-12 before Eastern Mennonite rattled off seven of the set's next eight points to take a 20-13 lead. The Chargers battled back and cut their deficit to 21-17, but could not get closer and dropped the second set, 25-18.

Eastern Mennonite opened an early 8-3 lead in the third set, but the Chargers roared back with seven of the next eight points and trailed just 11-10 midway through the third frame. Lancaster Bible would eventually knot the set at 14-14, but the Royals once again pulled away late and won the set, 25-18. 

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 21 kills for the match and Kasey Gentry pulled much of the weight for the Chargers as he slammed home 11 kills over the three sets...Daniel Kreider added five kills and two blocks, while fellow freshman Garyd Martin had 20 assists...Nicholas Wesley had a team-high seven digs...Joshua Rotz had two kills to go along with his team-high two aces.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible returns to the court on Thursday when the Chargers host Medgar Evers at 4 p.m...The match was originally scheduled for 6 p.m., but has been moved up due to a basketball doubleheader being re-scheduled for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday.
