The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team earned one of its biggest victories of the season on Saturday as the Chargers defeated Wells, 1-0 in Aurora, N.Y. The win moves the Chargers back to .500 at 7-7 and 5-5 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The victory also keeps the Chargers in the NEAC playoff picture as a loss would have dealt a serious blow to those chances.

Both teams took five shots, four of which were on goal for Lancaster Bible. Wells threatened throughout the first half as they earned four corner kicks, but the Chargers defense was up to the challenge each time.
In the second half, Lancaster Bible broke through as junior
Edward Bills found sophomore
Caleb Nelson with a pass across the box and Nelson deposited it into the back of the net at 53:28. Wells tried to respond immediately, but Lancaster Bible goalkeeper
Vann Sutphin made two saves over the next five minutes to keep the Express off the scoreboard.Â
The teams went back-and-forth over the final 30 minutes, but Lancaster Bible's defense was able to shut down any offensive chances by Wells and the Chargers hung on for the victory.

The Coach Says: "This is a huge win," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "We played a fresh team today, but I thought we outworked them for large parts of the game.
Ben Noel led the way for us and caused a lot of problems for Wells in the middle. We figured out how to deal with their pressure and had some great chances going forward."
"Everyone did their job and this shutout win means a lot to us," Ardt said. "We are excited for the challenge of improving this week and look forward to our three games."
