The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team advanced to the North Eastern Athletic Conference Semifinals for the fifth time in six seasons on Tuesday as the Chargers defeated Cazenovia, 5-0 in the NEAC Quarterfinals at Charger Field. Lancaster Bible improves to 14-5 this season, while Cazenovia ends its season at 10-10-1. The Chargers will face SUNY Polytechnic in the NEAC Semifinals on Saturday in Reading, Pa.
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible came out a bit sluggish, but controlled the game from the start as the Chargers held the ball in Cazenovia's end for much of the first half. The Chargers finally got on the scoreboard at 13:47 as
Alyssa Wesner headed in a corner kick cross from freshman
Hannah Bernstein for her 10th goal of the season. Just over three minutes later, freshman
Erin Groff collected her own rebound and scored past Cazenovia goalkeeper Lauren Gee.
The score remained 2-0 through halftime, though Lancaster Bible continued to control much of the play. Wesner scored again for Lancaster Bible early in the second half as she took a touch pass from Bernstein and rocketed a shot into the lower right-hand corner from 19 yards out.
Less than 10 minutes later, junior
Rachel Kumher's corner kick cross went off a Cazenovia defender and into the net to make it 4-0 Chargers at 58:21. Freshman
Maggie Arnold capped the scoring with her second goal of the season at 74:58 as she scored into the lower right-hand corner.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible outshot Cazenovia, 29-5, including 18-2 in shots on goal...The Chargers had 16 corner kicks, while the Wildcats had just one...Cazenovia's goalkeeper combined for 13 saves...The Chargers scored five goals or more for the sixth time this season.

Leah Sipe-McDermott said. "Alyssa's goals were great and we were able to play everyone and get everyone used to postseason soccer."
"Our team goals are to win the next game and the last game and coming into today, we had to check both those boxes and we did," Sipe-McDermott said. "We are excited to be back in the NEAC Semifinals and hope to check off the same boxes on Saturday as we did today. We just want to give ourselves another chance to play together."
