Chargers Face 'Stangs in NEAC Quarterfinals

For the sixth straight season, the Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team will make an appearance in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Quarterfinals and the Chargers will look to advance to the NEAC Semifinals for just the second time in program history. Lancaster Bible, the sixth seed, will square off with third-seeded Morrisville State on Friday evening at 5 p.m. in Utica, N.Y.  The Chargers lost to the Mustangs, 3-2 earlier this season in a match that saw Lancaster Bible jump out to a 2-0 lead, before Morrisville State rallied for a five-set victory.

How They Got Here: 
Lancaster Bible: The Chargers earned the sixth seed in the NEAC Playoffs by going 8-5 in conference action this season...After beginning NEAC play with a 2-1 record, the Chargers hit a bump in the road midway through the season, but rebounded to win four of their final five NEAC matches this season, including a three-match sweep at home over Bryn Athyn, St. Elizabeth and Penn St. Abington on Oct. 14-15.
Morrisville State: The Mustangs were one of the conference's best teams all season long as they lost just twice in conference play, the first coming to Gallaudet on Sept. 17 and other coming to Penn St. Berks on Oct. 2...Morrisville State gave conference champion SUNY Polytechnic its only loss of the NEAC season as the Mustangs defeated the Wildcats, 3-2 on Sept. 18 in Cobleskill, N.Y.

Oct. 1, 2016 (Played at Penn St. Berks): The Chargers took a two-set lead thanks to back-to-back, 25-21 victories in sets one and two...Morrisville State fought back to win the third set, 25-22 and the fourth set, 25-20, before running away with the fifth set, 15-6...Bowen had a match-high 14 kills for the Chargers, while Merrill had 13 kills for the Mustangs...Morrisville State had 74 digs, while the Chargers had 64...Both teams hit well as Morrisville State had a 25.6 hitting percentage, while the Chargers posted a 20.3 hitting percentage.
