The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team won its third straight game on Saturday as the Chargers hammered Wilson, 89-59 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers are now 3-1 overall and 3-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while Wilson drops to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in NEAC action.
How it Happened: The Chargers took control early as
Kaylee Boger and
Krissy Pennell hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Lancaster Bible an 8-3 lead just 2:07 into the game. Boger hit another 3-pointer at the 5:08 mark to give the Chargers a 17-5 lead and the home team was off and running. Back-to-back free throws by
Kirsten Webster as the quarter ran down gave Lancaster Bible a 28-14 lead after 10 minutes of play and the Chargers weren't done in the first half.
The Chargers opened the second quarter on a 12-6 run and a layup from
Courtney Goyak with 5:17 remaining gave Lancaster Bible a 40-20 advantage. After a three-point play by freshman Caitin Hickey, who continues to play well in her first season with the Chargers, and a jumper from fellow freshman
Emily Morgan, Lancaster Bible took its biggest lead of the half at 52-25.Â
Lancaster Bible opened the third quarter with another big scoring run as two free throws from Hickey capped a 12-2 run over the first 5:32 and the Chargers had a 65-31 lead.Â
The Chargers led by 30 or more points for almost the entire fourth quarter and once again, Webster capped the scoring late in the quarter with two free throws which produced the final score, 89-59.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot 33-of-55 (60 percent) from the field and was 6-of-10 (60 percent) from 3-point range...Wilson shot 18-of-63 (28.6 percent) from the floor and was just 3-of-14 (21.4 percent) from beyond the arc...Hickey led the Chargers for the second straight day with 22 points and seven boards to go with four steals, while Goyak had her fourth straight double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds...Pennell added 14 points and nine assists and Boger knocked down three more 3-pointers en route to 11 points...Webster (12 points) and Morgan (10 points) were also in double figures as the Chargers had six players score in double digits...Lindsey Purvis had a team-high 15 points for Wilson.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 23-14 all-time against Wilson...The Chargers have now won 14 straight games over Wilson and are 11-0 against the Phoenix since joining the NEACÂ in the 2011-12 academic year...In her past two games, Hickey has 55 points on 20-of-27 shooting (74 percent).
