The Lancaster Bible's Women Lacrosse team opened their 2016 season with a loss to Bryn Mawr on Wednesday as the Chargers fell, 18-5 in Lancaster, PA.
How it Happened: The Chargers opened the game with a fast start with three quick shots but just could not convert them into goals. After those shots the Owls started to gain momentum and went on to score seven straight goals. The Chargers continued to have their chances to score throughout that time but just could not convert. The Chargers got on the board with about twenty minutes left in the half with Junior
Alyssa Wesner scoring her first goal of the season. Less than two minutes later the Chargers scored another goal thanks to Sophomore
Myranda Kemrer. Wesner would score one more goal before the half ended and the Chargers went into halftime down 11-3.
The Chargers continued to play tough in the second half and have chances to put goals on the board but the ball just could not find its way past the goalie for the Owls. The Chargers scored the last two goals of the game. Junior
Naomi Otis scored the first of the two, and in her first collegiate game Senior
Katherine Moran scored the second.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 24 shots and 18 on goal...They held the advantage in draw control with a 15-5 advantage and a 10-7 advantage on ground balls...Wesner paced the Chargers with 11 shots, while Kemrer had 10 draw controls...Freshman goalie
Nicolette Statuti had 3 saves in her first collegiate game...The Owls were paced by Fiona Steele who had 10 goals.
The Coach Says: "Our transition was great today and a very important part of our game," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Cheri Horst said. "There are still a couple key things we need to work on a little more, but we all are looking forward to Saturday and getting better as the season goes on."
