The Lancaster Bible Women's Lacrosse team faced off against Moravian College in their final non-conference game of the season. The Chargers ran into the Greyhounds at the wrong time as the Greyhounds used balanced scoring and a strong defense to defeat the Chargers, 21-8, with the Chargers record moving to 4-3 on the season.
How it Happened: The Chargers were able to get on the board first at the 27:39 mark in the first half with
Myranda Kemrer scoring the first goal of the game. The Greyhounds were able the score the next three goals of the game to take a two goal lead. The Chargers showed some resilience as
Alyssa Wesner scored at the 23:24 mark to pull the Chargers within one goal. However, the Greyhounds would go on to score the next two goals to up their lead to three. The Chargers would get one the board one more time with Wesner scoring her second goal of the game. The Greyhounds went on a scoring run though as they scored the next four goals to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.
The Greyhounds started the second half right where they left off as they would score the first two goals of the half to widen their lead. Even with the Greyhounds having an eight goal lead the Chargers were not ready to give up as Wesner would score the next two goals for the Chargers. The Greyhounds were not fazed with the two goals scored by the Chargers as they would score two of their own to widen the lead to eight again. They Greyhounds were then giving a yellow card and the Chargers
Naomi Otis made sure the advantage was not wasted as she scored at the 19:35 mark in the second half. The Greyhounds would go on another two goal scoring spree but not long after the second goal of the run, Wesner was able to score her fifth goal of the game. The Chargers would get one more goal from
Rebekah Kelley, but the Greyhounds wound up scoring six more goals to give the final score of 21-8.
By the Numbers: The Chargers did not have the offensive numbers that have been common in their games so far, but they were still able to register 23 shots with 16 on goal...The Chargers were led by Wesner who had five goals...Kemrer, Otis, and Kelley all had a goal a piece for the Chargers...
Nicolette Statuti had nine saves for the Chargers...The Chargers were 15 of 19 in clears and held a 13-7 ground ball advantage...The Greyhounds were paced by Eileen Rolwood with six goals and three assists.
Up Next: The Chargers will begin the conference part of their schedule as they travel to New York for the weekend. The Chargers will play SUNY Polytechnic at 4 p.m. on Friday and then travel to play Medaille on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both schools will offer live stats for the games.
