Eagles Fly by Chargers

The Lancaster Bible softball team's push for a spot in the North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs hit a bump in the road on Monday as the Chargers were swept by St. Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J. The doubleheader loss drops the Chargers to 13-16 overall this season and 4-8 in conference play.

Game 1
St. Elizabeth 7, Lancaster Bible 4

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible got on the board first as Zoie Senn hit a sacrifice fly that scored Julia D'Arrigo. The Chargers held that lead until the third inning when St. Elizabeth scored three times to take a 3-1 lead. The Chargers got a run back in the top half of the fifth inning when Samantha Denson singled home Ashli Schmidt to make it 3-2, but the Eagles scored three more times in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-2 lead.

Senn doubled home D'Arrigo in the sixth inning and Morgan Burkholder singled later in the inning to plate Senn to cut the Eagles' lead to 6-4, but once again St. Elizabeth answered in its half of the inning and got one run back to make it 7-4 and held on to win by the same margin.

Kelsey Collins reached on an error that brought Senn in to score and Burkholder followed with a two-run double that plated Koser and Collins to make it 6-2. St. Elizabeth, as they did all day, responded quickly and scored three runs in its half of the third inning to cut the Chargers' lead to 6-5.

Back-to-back doubles in the fourth inning gave St. Elizabeth the lead for good as they took a 7-6 lead. The home team would tack on a run in the fifth and sixth innings as well and won by three runs for the second straight game.
