The Lancaster Bible softball team saw its losing streak reach five games on Friday as the Chargers dropped a pair of games to Wilson in Chambersburg, Pa. The Chargers lost game one, 10-2 in five innings and lost game two, 7-0 in a shortened game that ended in the bottom of the sixth due to darkness.
Game 1
Wilson 10, Lancaster Bible 2 (5 innings)
How it Happened: Wilson scored the game's first 10 runs, including a five-run second inning. Lancaster Bible scored twice in the top of the fifth as
Zoie Senn and
Ali Morton had RBI hits in the inning. After
Richelle Kane reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch, Senn doubled to score Kane and later in the inning, Morton's single plated Senn, but the Chargers came up a run short of extending the game and lost in five innings.
Inside the Box Score: Each team had seven hits, as
Samantha Denson had two knocks for the Chargers and finished 2-for-3...Morton and
Julia D'Arrigo each finished 1-for-3 in game one, while Senn was 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI...D'Arrigo and
McKayla Smucker each pitched two innings for the Chargers in game one.
Game 2
Wilson 7, Lancaster Bible 0 (6 innings)
How it Happened: Wilson scored two runs in the first inning, added three in the third and capped its scoring with two in the fifth as the game was called due to darkness with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Chargers managed just two hits in game two and they both came off of the bat of Denson as she went 2-for-2.
Inside the Box Score: Denson was the only base runner for the Chargers as well as no other Lancaster Bible player reached base in game two...D'Arrigo took the loss again in game two as she scattered 10 hits and allowed seven runs, six of which were earned...D'Arrigo also added a strikeout.
