The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team completed a perfect week on Saturday as the Chargers defeated Penn St. Abington, 81-65 in Abington, Pa. The win, the fourth straight for Lancaster Bible, improves the Chargers to 6-7 overall and 6-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Nittany Lions drop to 4-8, 3-4 NEAC.
How it Happened: Both teams started the game slowly as neither team could find an offensive groove and the game was tied at 15-15 with 10:40 remaining. An
Austin Brown 3-pointer with 7:07 left in the first half gave Lancaster Bible a four-point lead at 24-20. Penn St. Abington tied the game a minute later, but back-to-back 3-pointers from
Jason Kuntzelman and Javon Cole gave the Chargers their largest lead of the game to that point at 30-24.Â
Another 3-pointer from
Austin Brown later in the half, followed by late free throws from
Bryce Reed, helped give Lancaster Bible a 40-29 lead at halftime.
Austin Brown stayed hot in the second half and knocked down two more early 3-pointers to give the Chargers a 46-33 lead with 16:22 left. The Chargers continued to lead by double digits and increased their lead to 17 on 3-pointer by
Luke Beers with 12:28 remaining.Â
Lancaster Bible used a 9-2 run over a three minute span later in the half to take its largest lead of the game, 74-51. Cole had four of the points during the run, which he capped with two free throws. The Chargers would lead by 23 points three more times in the second half, before winning by 16.

Zach Filzen said. "It was one of our best games this season, if not the best. We were good in all facets of the game. We defended well and worked together to keep the ball out of the paint. We played together offensively which was very encouraging."
On Production from Multiple Players: "Lots of guys played really well and it was nice to see Javon and Bryce come off the bench and have great games," Filzen said.
On the Week: "We are excited about the week we have had, winning four games in seven days, but there is still work to be done and still things we can improve on and the guys know that," Filzen said. "We need to have a good week of practice and get ready for a big weekend of games next Friday and Saturday."
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 8-5 all-time against Penn St. Abington...The 12 3-point field goals ties a season-best for the Chargers who also had 12 3-pointers against Franklin & Marshall and Penn St. Berks...The Chargers have had 45 or more rebounds in four straight games...In Lancaster Bible's four games over the past seven days, the Chargers allowed just 66.5 points per game.
