The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team suffered a stinging loss on Tuesday night, as the Chargers lost to Gallaudet, 1-0 in Washington, D.C. The loss drops the Chargers to 6-7-2 overall and 3-2-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Bison are now 2-11 overall and 2-5 in conference action.Â
The Big Moments:
-Both teams took their time getting into the contest as the teams combined for just seven shots and four corners in the opening 45 minutes
-Lancaster Bible had its best chance of the night just over two minutes into the second half, as the Chargers were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box...Senior
Edward Bills' try hit the right post however and the game remained tied.
-The Chargers continued to have chances to score throughout the second half, but continued to fire wide or have their chances saved by Gallaudet goalkeeper, Noah Means-Simonsen...Senior
Justin Stoltzfus hit the crossbar in the 73rd minute as well for Lancaster Bible
-Gallaudet finally got on the scoreboard at 74:59, when Kevin Fitzpatrick netted his first goal of the season
-Lancaster Bible fired three more shots towards the goal, but couldn't get the equalizer
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible outshot Gallaudet, 18-6, including 7-3 in shots on goal...The Chargers also held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks...Senior
Thiago Naque made two saves for the Chargers, but took the loss...Bills had a team-high six shots, including six shots on goal.
The Coach Says: "Give a lot of credit to Gallaudet for their effort today," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "Unfortunately, we took some things for granted and were flat in the first half. In the second half, we picked it up, but it wasn't enough and we didn't finish some pretty good chances in the box. We'll need to be much more consistent finishing conference play."
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 7-7-1 all-time against Gallaudet...The Chargers defeated the Bison, 5-0 last season and had a seven-game unbeaten streak against Gallaudet...The last time the Chargers lost to the Bison was during the 2004 season...The Chargers are 3-5-1 on the road this season...Lancaster Bible will play four of its final five regular season games at home.
