Lancaster Bible College women's soccer seniors
Raegan Horst and
Rachel Kumher waited a long time for their Senior Day, but made the most of it, as they each had a hat trick and an assist in Lancaster Bible's 7-1 romp over Cazenovia. The Chargers improved to 5-8-2 overall and 4-2-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while Cazenovia dropped to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in NEAC play.
How it Happened: Kumher gave the Chargers an early 1-0 lead just 3:20 into the game, as she took a pass from Horst and scored from 24 yards out. Horst scored a goal of her own a little over 12 minutes later, taking a feed from
Madison Miller and scoring on a breakaway to double Lancaster Bible's lead.
Cazenovia cut its deficit in half four minutes later when Dominique Metoyer netted her seventh goal of the year. Metoyer chipped the ball from just inside the box on the right-hand side and it went up and over Lancaster Bible goalkeeper
Kendra Brown.
Lancaster Bible restored its two-goal lead at 25:15 when Kumher scored on a penalty kick to give the Chargers a 3-1 advantage. Horst added her second of the game 5:14 later, as she took a pass from Kumher and got behind the defense, and eventually fired a shot into the back of the goal after yet another breakaway.
Sophomore
Kate Spiezio made it 5-1 early in the second half on a feed from freshman
Sam Koons. Spiezio drilled a shot into the right-hand corner for her fifth goal of the season. Less than four minutes later, Horst completed her hat trick, taking a pass from Koons, she put a shot on goal that was blocked by goalkeeper Alyssa Conolly, but the rebound went right to Horst, who put the second try into the back of the net.
With just over 20 minutes to play, the Chargers were rewarded with a free kick after a foul about 36 yards from the goal. Kumher lined up the try and blasted a shot into the left-hand corner that went up and over Conolly and gave the Chargers a 7-1 lead and Kumher the hat trick.
