The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team took on Gallaudet in Washington, D.C. on Thursday night with the winner earning the second seed in the upcoming North Eastern Athletic Conference South Division Quarterfinals. Unfortunately for the Chargers, their big comeback fell just short and Lancaster Bible lost, 3-2 and will have to travel back to Gallaudet next Tuesday, Oct. 31 to take on the Bison in the playoffs.
The Chargers lost, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-27, 15-13, and fell to 12-17 overall this season and 6-3 in NEAC play, while the Bison improved to 16-15 overall and 7-2 in conference action.Â
1st Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible trailed for much of the set and trailed 17-12, before winning seven of nine points to tie the set at 19-19
-With the set tied 22-22, the Chargers got a kill from
Ashtyn Bouslog and an ace from
Erin Harkey to take a 24-22 lead and won the set a point later on a Gallaudet error
2nd Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible trailed 14-12 midway through the second set when the Bison won four straight points to open up a six-point lead
-The Chargers cut their deficit to four at 19-15, but Gallaudet won four straight points again and closed out the set a few points later at 25-19
3rd Set Highlights:
-Gallaudet blew open the third set as the Bison turned a 7-6 lead into a 16-6 lead after winning nine straight points
-Lancaster Bible battled the whole set and cut its deficit to six at 20-14, but couldn't overcome the large deficit and lost the set, 25-17
4th Set Highlights:
-Needing a win to stay alive, the Chargers jumped out to a 12-7 lead on a kill from
Aleah Heyworth
-Lancaster Bible maintained its lead throughout the set and 24-20 after a Gallaudet error
-Like Tuesday night's match however, the Chargers had trouble closing out the set and Gallaudet won five straight points and earned a match point at 25-24
-Two
Hannah Gipe kills sandwiched around a Gallaudet error gave the set to the Chargers and the teams went to a deciding fifth set
5th Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the deciding set, but Gallaudet fought back and won five of the next six points to tie the set, 5-5
-From there, the set went back-and-forth, until the Bison won three straight points after trailing, 11-10
-Lancaster Bible trailed 14-13 later in the set, but couldn't extend the match any longer, and Gallaudet won, 15-13
By the Numbers: Gallaudet had 60 kills, while the Chargers had 55...Lancaster Bible posted 105 digs and also had nine aces...Gipe had a team-high 15 kills...Senior
Myranda Kemrer smashed the program-record for digs in a match, as she compiled 46 digs...The previous record of 36 belonged to Lauren Heliger ('13) and was set on Sept. 15, 2012...Kemrer set her previous career high of 33 just five days ago against McDaniel...Bouslog had 11 kills and 14 digs, while
Bekah Roberts finished with 10 kills as well...
Allison Shuey posted five kills to go with 46 assists and six digs...

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 0-10 all-time against Gallaudet...Kemrer is just 40 digs from setting the program-record for digs in a career...Heliger currently holds the record with 1,778...Kemrer's 460 digs this season are the eighth-most in program history and she is just 12 from breaking her personal record of 471 which she set during the 2014 season...Roberts' 77 total blocks are tied for the 11th-most in program history.
