Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Raptors Claw Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday afternoon at Charger Field to cap its three-game home stand. The Chargers are now 2-7-1 overall, while the Scarlet Raptors improved to 5-6 overall.

How it Happened: Rutgers-Camden got on the board early on Wednesday, as the Raptors' Sarah Zuzulock took a leading pass from Kaitlyn Ennis and put the ball past Rheeana Miles into the left-hand corner, just 4:21 into the contest.

Lancaster Bible held a good amount of the possession following the Raptors' goal, but could not convert it into any scoring chances. Midway through the first half, Rutgers-Camden doubled its lead, as Cassidy McSorley fired a shot from the right side that hit the crossbar and went straight to Meghan Wachira who headed the ball into the back of the net.

The Chargers once again possessed the ball for the majority of the time following Wachira's goal, but once again, could not create any great scoring chances and headed into halftime trailing by two.

Wachira scored her second of the day just over three minutes into the second half to make it 3-0, as she benefitted from a great passing play from Kaitlyn Ennis and Zuzulock.

Lancaster Bible finally got on the board at 67:19 when freshman Karissa Akselsen scored the first collegiate goal of her career off a pass from Kate Spiezio.

Zuzulock scored her second of the day at 79:47 to put the game out of reach, as she took a pass from Melissa Peel and scored underneath Miles who had come out to try and block the shot.

By the Numbers: Rutgers-Camden outshot the Chargers, 18-9, including 9-3 in shots on goal…The Raptors had five corner kicks, all of them coming in the second half, while the Chargers had three…Miles made five saves for the Chargers, while Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper Liz DiCamillo made two stops.
