The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team improved to 6-2 this season after two victories on Wednesday night at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers defeated York (N.Y.), 3-0 in the opener and took down Wilkes, 3-0 in the nightcap. The 6-2 start is the second-best in program history, just behind the 7-1 mark the 2004 squad set.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible opened the first set on a 15-2 run and took a 20-4 lead later in the set, before winning 25-10. The Cardinals played better in the second set as the Chargers led just 12-8 midway through the set. Lancaster Bible withstood the Cardinals pressure and took six of the next seven points to grab an 18-9 advantage. The Chargers sealed the second set winning four of the last five points, including a kill from
Joshua Rotz to end the set.

York (N.Y.) took an early lead in the third set, as they rattled off five of the first six points to grab a 5-1 lead. Lancaster Bible slowly chipped away at its deficit and finally took an 8-7 lead that grew to 10-7 as the Chargers earned five straight points.

The third set stayed fairly close as the Chargers led just 13-12 midway through, but Lancaster Bible put is foot on the gas and won 12 of the final 13 points to earn a 25-13 third-set victory.

How it Happened: The teams traded points early in the first set, but the Chargers were able to create some distance midway through the set as Lancaster Bible won five of six points to open a 12-7 lead. Wilkes got a few points back, but another run by the Chargers, this time an 8-2 run, gave Lancaster Bible a 21-11 lead which it would never relinquish.

Lancaster Bible took advantage of the second set at almost the same point as the first set as the Chargers used another 8-2 run to build a 15-7 lead. The Chargers continued to build their lead and after a kill from junior
Kasey Gentry and a Wilkes attack error, Lancaster Bible had captured the second set, 25-12.

The third set was the most competitive of the day as the teams battled back-and-forth. After Wilkes took a 9-5 lead on a Lancaster Bible error, the Chargers won seven of nine points to take a 12-11 advantage. The Colonels wouldn't go away and led 15-13, but the Chargers were up to the task again and won six of seven points to take a 19-16 lead. Wilkes cut its deficit to two at one point, but the Chargers were too strong, and two straight errors from the Colonels sealed the match for Lancaster Bible.
