Lancaster Bible Powers Up to Split Games on Day 2

The Lancaster Bible College softball team continued its spring break trip in Florida on Monday as the Chargers split two games. The Chargers lost to Rochester, 9-0 in five innings to open the day, but rebounded for a 7-2 victory over Lasell later in the afternoon. Lancaster Bible is now 3-5 overall and after a day off on Tuesday, will play Olivet and Western New England on Wednesday afternoon.

Game Notes: For the second time in three games, the Chargers were no-hit as Rochester's Sam Malecki shut down Lancaster Bible for five innings...The Chargers struck out five times over the five innings...Rochester scored four times in the first inning, once in the third and four more times in the fifth to earn the win.

Inside the Box Score: Senior Julia D'Arrigo took the loss for the Chargers as she pitched four innings and scattered nine hits...D'Arrigo gave up just three earned runs and struck out one.

Information Hodge Podge: This was the first meeting between the two teams.

Game Notes: Lancaster Bible got on the board early as the Chargers scored twice in the first inning...Sophomore Sam Denson had an RBI in the first, while D'Arrigo scored on a wild pitch...D'Arrigo extended Lancaster Bible's lead to 3-0 in the third as she hit her second home run of the season...Lasell scored twice in the fourth to get back into the game, but the Chargers used the long ball to pull away in the sixth as junior Kayla Thoune and sophomore Morgan Burkholder hit back-to-back home runs to restore Lancaster Bible's three-run lead...Senior Kelsey Collins blasted the team's fourth home run of the game in the seventh inning as her two-run bomb gave Lancaster Bible a 7-2 advantage.

Inside the Box Score: Burkholder finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI...D'Arrigo was 1-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored...Sophomore Zoie Senn scored two runs, while Thoune was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI...In addition to her two-run home run, Collins also pitched well for the Chargers as she went the distance to earn her third win of the season...Collins scattered eight hits and allowed just two earned runs, while striking out four.

Information Hodge Podge: This was the first meeting between the teams...The home runs for Thoune and Burkholder were the first of their collegiate careers...Collins' homer was the seventh of her career and the pitching victory was the 30th of her illustrious career...D'Arrigo now has 11 career home runs and 60 career runs batted in...The three wins are the most prior to the end of spring break for the Chargers since the sport was reinstated prior to the 2014 season.
