The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team overcame several deficits on Monday night and scored three late goals to defeat Wesley, 15-14 under the lights at Lancaster Mennonite School in Lancaster, Pa. The win moves the Chargers to 3-2 this season, while the Wolverines dropped to 5-4.Â
How it Happened: Wesley jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the opening 4:11, but Lancaster Bible junior
Myranda Kemrer got the Chargers on the board 4:37 into the contest with her 13th goal of the year. The Wolverines would eventually take a 6-3 lead midway through the half, but once again, Lancaster Bible fought back and scored three straight goals to knot the game at 6-6.
Senior
Alyssa Wesner had two of the three goals over a 2:22 span, while fellow senior
Naomi Otis added the other as the Chargers tied the game with 10:51 to play in the opening half. Sophomore
Hannah Thompson gave Lancaster Bible its first lead with just over eight minutes to play in the first as she netted her 12th goal of the season and made it 7-6 in favor of the Chargers.
Wesley re-took an 8-7 lead late in the half, but freshman
Barb Foster scored her first goal of the game with 1:32 remaining and the teams went to halftime tied at 8-8.
The teams went back-and-forth in the second half as no team held a lead larger than a goal until late in the game. Wesley led 13-12 with 6:55 remaining after a goal from Allison Perugini. Lancaster Bible pressed for the tying goal and Thompson finally got it for the Chargers with 3:53 to play and then put the Chargers ahead 1:30 later as her 14th goal of the year with 2:23 to play gave Lancaster Bible a 14-13 lead.Â
Foster's third goal of the game with 1:24 to play gave Lancaster Bible some breathing room and it was needed as Wesley scored with 21 seconds to play to move back to within one. Lancaster Bible won the draw following the Wesley goal and was able to run out the clock and earn the win.

Information Hodge Podge: Monday night was the first time Lancaster Bible has ever beaten Wesley and the Chargers are now 1-5 all-time against the Wolverines...Lancaster Bible has scored at least 14 goals in each of its first five games this year...The Chargers have outshot their opponents in four of their five contests...Monday's win was the 40th in program history...Wesner's five goals give her 170 for her career.
