The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team opened North Eastern Athletic Conference play on Saturday, but unfortunately for the Chargers, it didn't go as planned. Penn St. Abington set the tone early and didn't give the Chargers much room all day as the Nittany Lions defeated Lancaster Bible, 19-9 in Abington, Pa. The loss drops the Chargers to 3-4, 0-1 NEAC, while Penn St. Abington improved to 5-0, 1-0 NEAC.
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible got on the board first as junior
Myranda Kemrer scored 3:29 into the game to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. Penn St. Abington took the game over from there however as the Nittany Lions scored five of the next six goals and took a 5-2 lead Marah Hayes' second goal of the game with 11:51 to play in the first half.
Lancaster Bible regained some momentum four minutes later as junior
Amber Moore and Kemrer scored 1:16 apart to cut the Chargers' deficit to 5-4 with 5:56 left in the half. Just as Lancaster Bible was getting itself back into the game, Penn St. Abington scored five times in the final 4:35 of the opening half and grabbed a 10-4 lead at halftime.
Sophomore
Hannah Thompson scored to open the second half for the Chargers, but they would not get any closer than 10-5 the rest of the way as the Nittany Lions proved to be too consistent on the offensive end.Â
