Nittany Lions Too Much for Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College softball team ran its losing streak to six games on Saturday as the Chargers dropped a pair of games to Penn St. Abington at Charger Field. Lancaster Bible lost game one, 8-2 and then fell 14-0 in five innings in game two. The Chargers are now 6-20 overall and 2-8 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while Penn St. Abington improved to 13-9 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

Penn St. Abington 8, Lancaster Bible 2 -- Game 1
How it Happened: The Nittany Lions scored a run in each of the first four innings to take a 4-0 lead after 3 1/2 innings, but the Chargers got two runs back in their half of the fourth thanks to RBI hits from sophomore Sam Denson and sophomore Morgan Burkholder. Penn St. Abington extended its lead in the sixth inning with three more runs and added another in the seventh for the 8-2 victory.

Inside the Box Score: Six different Lancaster Bible players had a hit in game one, including Caitlin March who went 2-for-3...Zoie Senn was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored...Denson finished 1-for-3 with with an RBI and a run scored...Marissa Senn and McKayla also had hits, as did Burkholder...Julia D'Arrigo took the loss for the Chargers as she scattered 11 hits and gave up just four earned runs, while striking out two...The Chargers made six errors in game one.

Penn St. Abington 14, Lancaster Bible 0 (5 inn.) -- Game 2
How it Happened: The Nittany Lions scored early and often in game two as they scored seven runs in the first two innings and seven more in the final two innings. Lancaster Bible had base runners in three of the five innings, but couldn't get a run across the plate.

Inside the Box Score: Lancaster bible had just three hits in game two, two of which came off the bat of D'Arrigo...Kayla Thoune had the other hit for the Chargers...Lancaster Bible made five more errors in game two.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 5-9 all-time against Penn St. Abington...The Chargers are 1-7 at home this season.
