Chargers Go 1-3 Over Weekend

The Lancaster Bible College softball team played a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheaders this weekend and went 1-3 over the four games. The Chargers split their games with Gallaudet on Saturday at Charger Field, before being swept at Wilson on Sunday in Chambersburg, Pa. Lancaster Bible is now 7-25 overall and 3-13 in NEAC play and the Chargers will play their final four games of the season later this week.

Lancaster Bible 11, Gallaudet 3 (5 innings) -- Game 1
Game Notes:
Lancaster Bible scored nine runs in the first two innings to ease past the Bison in game one...Senior Julia D'Arrigo was 3-for-3 with three runs scored for the Chargers...Sophomore Sam Denson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI...Sophomore Morgan Burkholder was 2-for-3 with two doubles, as she drove in three runs and scored one...Senior Kelsey Collins was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored...Sophomore Zoie Senn was 1-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored...Junior Kayla Thoune was 1-for-3 with an RBI, while freshman Savannah Sheaffer was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored...D'Arrigo earned the win by pitching three innings and allowing just two runs, neither of which were earned...She also struck out two hitters.

Gallaudet 13, Lancaster Bible 4 (5 innings) -- Game 2
Game Notes:
Lancaster Bible took an early 2-0 lead, but Gallaudet scored eight runs in the third after getting on the board in the second inning and then capped the game with four more runs in the fifth to earn a split of the doubleheader...Burkholder went 1-for-2, as she hit a two-run home run for the Chargers...D'Arrigo and McKayla Smucker each went 1-for-3 with a run scored...Zoie Senn went 1-for-2 with a triple and a walk...Thoune and Martina McCauley each went 1-for-2.

Wilson 9, Lancaster Bible 0 (5 innings) -- Game 1
Game Notes:
Wilson scored five runs in the second and four more in the fourth to blank the Chargers in game of a doubleheader...Lancaster Bible had just two hits...D'Arrigo and Collins were each 1-for-2, while Lancaster Bible hitters struck out eight times...Smucker was the only other runner to reach base as she drew a walk.

Wilson 5, Lancaster Bible 2 -- Game 2
Game Notes:
The Chargers opened the scoring in the fourth inning as Elorah Starr scored in D'Arrigo's fielder's choice...The Phoenix scored twice in the bottom half of the inning and then tacked on three more in the sixth inning...Burkholder had an RBI single in the seventh that scored Senn, but the Chargers couldn't plate anymore runs and lost to Wilson for the fourth time this season...D'Arrigo was 1-for-3 with a walk...She has a hit in six of her last seven games...Senn, Denson, Burkholder and Collins also had hits for the Chargers.

Lancaster Bible heads to Morristown, N.J. on Tuesday to face St. Elizabeth in the doubleheader...The first game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
