Chargers Earn Another Big Win

The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team continued it strong run of play over the past two weeks on Saturday, as the Chargers cruised past Bryn Athyn, 66-47, in Bryn Athyn, Pa. The Chargers are now 10-7 overall and remain perfect in North Eastern Athletic Conference play at 8-0. The Lions dropped to 5-12 overall and 2-6 in conference action.

1st Quarter Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible jumped out to an 8-2 lead over the first 4:34 of the opening quarter, with the scoring run capped by a layup from freshman Leah Steiner
-Bryn Athyn used an 8-0 run following the bucket from Steiner however, and took a 10-8 lead with two minutes remaining in the first quarter
-The Chargers got baskets from sophomore Emily Morgan and senior Kirsten Webster in the final two minutes, and grabbed a 12-10 lead after 10 minutes of play

2nd Quarter Highlights:
-The teams traded baskets in the opening five minutes of the quarter, as another layup from Steiner tied the game at 18-18 with 5:02 to play 
-Lancaster Bible took over from that point however, and used a 13-2 run the rest of the first half to grab a 31-20 advantage at halftime...Freshman Lizzy Tilton hit a jump shot with seven seconds to play to give the Chargers an 11-point lead

3rd Quarter Highlights:
-After Bryn Athyn scored the first bucket of the quarter, the Chargers went on another long run and led 40-22 midway through the quarter after a layup from sophomore Caitlin Hickey
-A late 6-0 run from the Lions cut the Chargers' lead to 46-33 after 30 minutes of play

4th Quarter Highlights:
-Tilton connected on another jumper on Lancaster Bible's second possession of the fourth quarter, giving the Chargers a 15-point advantage
-Another pair of baskets from Tilton and Steiner gave the Chargers a 17-point lead with seven minutes remaining and the Chargers cruised home from there

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot 28-of-61 (45.9 percent) from the floor, and 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) from the free throw line...Bryn Athyn was just 16-of-67 (23.9 percent) from the field, and 2-of-14 from 3-point range...Hickey led the Chargers with 16 points, while Tilton had a career-high 14 points, and grabbed six rebounds...Steiner also had a career-high with 10 points and seven boards...Junior Courtney Goyak had nine points and 20 boards, while senior Kirsten Webster had eight points, five rebounds and four assists...Clayshonia Cogman had a game-high 17 points for the Lions.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 6-1 all-time against Bryn Athyn...Not only did Tilton score a career-high 14 points, it marked the first time this season she has scored in double figures...The 28 made field goals are the most for the Chargers in the past five games.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible returns to the court on Wednesday when the Chargers head to Chambersburg, Pa. to face Wilson at 8 p.m.
