Chargers Sweep Knights

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team won its fifth straight match on Wednesday night, defeating Arcadia, 3-0 at Horst Athletic Center. The victory propels the Chargers to 5-1 this season, while the Knights dropped to 2-2, as Lancaster Bible won on Wednesday, 25-13, 25-20, 25-18.

1st Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible jumped out to a 5-1 lead thanks in part to two aces from junior Nate Miller
-The Chargers eventually built a 10-3 advantage, as senior Kasey Gentry became the fourth player of the set to record a kill for Lancaster Bible
-Lancaster Bible rattled off six straight points later in the set, five of which came off errors from Arcadia, and the Chargers took a 19-6 lead
-Back-to-back errors from Arcadia gave the first set to the Chargers, 25-13.

2nd Set Highlights:
-After Arcadia led 2-0, Lancaster Bible won six of the next seven points for a 6-3 advantage...The last two points came off two more aces from Miller
-The Chargers built an 11-8 lead midway through the set, but Arcadia answered and trailed just 12-11 after an ace from Jason Manley
-The teams traded scoring runs again, and the Chargers led just 20-17 after a service error by the Knights
-Leading by three, Lancaster Bible once again won the set on back-to-back errors from Arcadia, taking the set, 25-20

3rd Set Highlights:
-The teams traded points early in the set, but Lancaster Bible won five straight points to take an 11-6 lead
-The Chargers maintained their lead through the set, and back-to-back kills from Gentry and Miller gave Lancaster Bible a 17-11 edge
-Arcadia hung tough and cut its deficit to three at 19-16, but Lancaster Bible won five of the next six points and put the match away on a kill from Miller

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible smashed 33 kills against just nine errors on 59 attempts for a .407 hitting percentage...Arcadia had 23 kills and 18 errors on 67 attempts...Miller had a match-high 16 kills, to go with six aces and four digs...Gentry added five kills and five digs...Sophomore Kole Horst added five kills, seven digs and two blocks...Kreider finished with seven kills and three blocks...Sophomore Kaleb Ansell had 31 assists...Quinn Baily had a team-high six kills for the Knights.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 3-0 all-time against Arcadia...The Knights began their men's volleyball program last year...The .407 hitting percentage is a season-best for the Chargers, and the nine errors are a season-low...The nine team aces on Wednesday are also a team-high this season...Lancaster Bible is now 2-1 at home this season...The Chargers play their next eight matches on the road and aren't back at Horst Athletic Center until a March 2 match with Eastern Mennonite at 6 p.m.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible heads to Grantham, Pa. on Saturday night to face Messiah at 7 p.m...The match is the first in Messiah's program history, as the Falcons added men's volleyball as a varsity sport this season, after having a successful club program for many years.
