Chargers and Wildcats Play to a Tie

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team earned a tie on Saturday afternoon in Cazenovia, N.Y., as the Chargers and Cazenovia played to a 1-1 tie. Lancaster Bible is now 5-6-2 overall and 4-3-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Wildcats are now 10-4-1 overall and 6-2-1 in conference play.
 
Game Recap: Cazenovia had two of the games' first three shots, and the first two corner kicks, but it was the Chargers who opened the scoring, as Bryanna Hoover scored at 12:22, as she lofted a shot over the goalkeeper from 20 yards out.
 
The lead lasted just 1:31, as Cassidy Rattray scored off a feed from Michaela Breeze for her fifth goal of the season.
 
Cazenovia had the majority of the chances the rest of the first half, but the score remained the same after 45 minutes.
 
The teams traded chances throughout the second half, with Lancaster Bible's best chance coming with 1:42 to play, as Samantha Koons' free kick skimmed off the top of the crossbar.
 
Cazenovia had four shots and two corner kicks in the first overtime, with Breeze's shot hitting the post near the end of the first overtime. The Wildcats had several more corner kicks in the second overtime, but the Chargers had the best chance of the second extra frame, as Jackie Moore sprinted down the field, and took the ball from a defender, moved around the goalkeeper, and her shot from a bad angle just missed the far post and went wide.
 
The Wildcats had a couple of more chances late in the second overtime, but couldn't convert, and the teams tied, 1-1.
 
By the Numbers: Cazenovia outshot the Chargers, 24-9, including 11-6 in shots on goal…The Wildcats also held a 15-2 edge in corner kicks…Hoover's goal was her fifth of the season, and she now has the team lead this season…Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Erin Mikula made 10 saves, while Koons led the team with three shots.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 7-1-1 all-time against Cazenovia…The Chargers also tied Penn St. Abington earlier this season…Lancaster Bible is 2-0-2 in its past four road games.
