Chargers Wrap-Up Regular Season with 6th Straight Win

The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team wrapped up its regular season on Thursday night with its sixth straight victory, as the Chargers defeated Delaware Valley, 2-1 in Doylestown, Pa. The six straight wins is the longest for the Chargers since the 2015 season, and Lancaster Bible is now 11-6-1 overall, while the Aggies dropped to 3-14.
 
Game Recap: The Chargers got on the scoreboard early on Thursday night, as senior Jared Jordan scored off a feed from Dan Bewersdorff. Bewersdorff's corner kick cross went to the far post, where Jordan was waiting and headed the ball into the net for his fourth goal of the season.
 
Lancaster Bible doubled its lead 6:18 later, as freshman Rusty Risteen took advantage of a misplayed ball near the Aggie goal and deposited it into the back of the net for his third goal of the year.
 
The Chargers had another offensive chance midway through the half, as Chad Tolson had a header opportunity off a corner kick, but Delaware Valley midfielder Billy Frazier, Jr. made the save in front of the goal, and the teams eventually went to halftime with the Chargers in front by two.
 
Delaware Valley cut its deficit to one at 59:47, as Frazier, Jr. scored on a shot from 20 yards out. The Aggies' Austin Daniels hit the post just 2:20 later, but Lancaster Bible's defense calmed things down, and allowed just two shots over the next 25 minutes.
 
The Aggies had two late chances to tie the game, but one shot went wide, while Kenny Akselsen made a defensive on a shot from Evan Augsburger with 45 seconds remaining to preserve the win.
 
By the Numbers: Delaware Valley led in shots, 12-8, but Lancaster Bible held a 5-4 edge in shots on goal…The Chargers also led in corner kicks, 5-4…CJ DeMarsico made three saves, and picked up the victory, his first of the season, and second of his career…Bewersdorff's assist gives his four this season, and he is now tied for the team-lead with Tolson and Jordan…Twelve different Lancaster Bible players have scored this season, including nine who have two or more goals.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 3-2 all-time against Delaware Valley…Over Lancaster Bible's six-game win streak, the Chargers have outscored their opponents, 13-6…Of the six wins, five of them have been by one goal, and the Chargers are now 6-5 in one goal games this season…The Chargers are 6-3-1 away from home this season.
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible won't play again until the North Eastern Athletic Conference Semifinals on Saturday, November 3…The game will be played in Abington, Pa. on the campus of Penn St. Abington, but the time and opponent for the game are yet to be determined.
